Building a new website

I’m SO EXCITED!

I’m also proud of myself. For a very long time, I’ve wanted to create a streamlined, separate website for Changed for the Better.

I started my staceytirro.com website in June 2021, after the worst of the pandemic was over. I had done a lot of creating and I wanted a place to gather and share the work. The process was so new, but since it was summer, I figured that I had the time to go slow, look at the tutorials and YouTube, and I’d cobble something together that worked. It was both fun and frustrating, and in the end, I had something that would be a centralized place for all of my writing stuff.

Fast forward to February 2022, when the seedling for Changed for the Better was planted and my first episode was released in March. One more thing to add to the website.

What bothered me was how cluttered the original website was getting. It was such a hodgepodge of content that I tried organizing the best I could, but it seemed that everything was getting a little lost. In addition, I had so many episodes for CFTB that I really wanted it to stand out on its own. On August 8th, I decided to take the leap, buy a new domain name, and get to work. In less than a week, changedwithtirro.com was launched.

Learning how to build a website isn’t easy. In fact, it is sometimes downright maddening. Learning how to use blocks, CSS, HTML, figuring out navigation menus, pages, posts and categories; it’s a quagmire of stuff. The biggest fear is making one wrong move and POOF! your hard work is gone. And when you have a middle-aged brain, learning new things takes a little longer to process. You tend to forget what you learn really quickly unless you repeat it a thousand times (which I had to do for a lot of the transfer).

Honestly, as I am well into my “second act” (IYKYK), I need to build in creative things to help my brain from deteriorating into a pile of goo. Writing, website building, podcasting and flipping seem to be just the right combination of things to help me stay sharp. After all, how many crossword puzzles can one person do? But I digress…

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the incredible support through views, comments, and personal conversations that I’ve had about this venture. What started out as something to give me a creative outlet seems to be turning into something much more. The beauty of it is that I have no idea exactly where it’s going, and I’m completely okay with that. Changed for the Better is out there. It’s reaching people’s hearts and minds, and I am hoping it will continue to expand to others outside my inner circle.

Please, do me a favor: take a look at the new website, give me some feedback on the button to the left, subscribe and share it with a few friends who may not know about it. I really want people to know about these stories; there’s so much inspiration to be shared.
